Bayesian Solution Uncertainty Quantification for Differential Equations

We explore probability modelling of discretization uncertainty for system states defined implicitly by ordinary or partial differential equations. Accounting for this uncertainty can avoid posterior under-coverage when likelihoods are constructed from a coarsely discretized approximation to system equations. A formalism is proposed for inferring a fixed but a priori unknown model trajectory thr...

Random fractional functional differential equations

In this paper, we prove the existence and uniqueness results to the random fractional functional differential equations under assumptions more general than the Lipschitz type condition. Moreover, the distance between exact solution and appropriate solution, and the existence extremal solution of the problem is also considered.

Bifurcations of Random Differential Equations with Bounded Noise on Surfaces.

In random differential equations with bounded noise minimal forward invariant (MFI) sets play a central role since they support stationary measures. We study the stability and possible bifurcations of MFI sets. In dimensions 1 and 2 we classify all minimal forward invariant sets and their codimension one bifurcations in bounded noise random differential equations.

Summary: Ordinary Differential Equations

1 Initial Value Problem We are given a right hand side function f(t, y) with f : [t0, T ]×Rn → Rn and an initial value y0 ∈ Rn. We want to find a function y(t) with y : [t0, T ] → Rn such that y′(t) exists, is continuous and satisfies the initial value problem y′(t) = f (t, y(t)) , y(t0) = y0. (1) We assume that f(t, y) satisfies a Lipschitz condition with respect to y (at least for y with |y −...

Linearizable ordinary differential equations . ∗

Our purpose in this paper is to study when a planar differential system polynomial in one variable linearizes in the sense that it has an inverse integrating factor which can be constructed by means of the solutions of linear differential equations. We give several families of differential systems which illustrate how the integrability of the system passes through the solutions of a linear diff...
